  • BMCS New Approaches to Neurodegenerative Diseases

Last year we organised the New Approaches to the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease meeting (you can read the report here ), this proved to be an outstanding success. We are now in the process of organising a follow up meeting with a broader remit.

A recent study estimated that over 70 million people worldwide are affected by neurodegenerative diseases. For many diseases, current treatments only address symptoms and do not alter disease progression, whilst these treatments can be very helpful there is an urgent need for disease modifying therapies. Over the last few years we have seen significant advances in our understanding of the underlying biology, identification of new therapeutic targets and the design of novel drug candidates. This meeting will highlight leading edge research in the design and development of new therapeutics.

The BMCS New Approaches to Neurodegenerative Diseases meeting will be at Wellcome Genome Campus, Hinxton, Saffron Walden CB10 1RQ on Monday 5th – Tuesday 6th April, 2027.

You can find more details on the website https://www.rscbmcs.org/events/neuro27/ which will be regularly updated.

Abstract submission is now open, the submission link is on the website.

The deadline for oral abstract submission is Midnight (GMT), Monday 14th December, 2026.
The deadline for poster abstract submission is Midnight (GMT), Monday 1st February, 2027.

  • RSC CICAG Chemical Structure Representations Meeting 2026

This meeting will be held at Burlington House, London, UK on Wednesday 8th April 2026.

A one-day conference on Chemical Structure Representations will bring together researchers from academia, industry, and software development to explore how we encode, interpret, and leverage molecular structures in modern chemical science. From classical line notations and connection tables to graph neural networks, learned embeddings, and foundation models, the meeting will examine how representation choices shape prediction, design, synthesis planning, data integration, and regulatory communication.

Talks will span cheminformatics, computational chemistry, AI/ML, structural biology, and drug discovery, with an emphasis on practical impact, interoperability, and reproducibility. By connecting experts in theory, algorithms, and application, the conference aims to catalyse new ideas and collaborations around one of the most fundamental questions in digital chemistry: how we represent molecules determines what we can discover.

  • New Approaches to the Treatment of Parkinson’s Disease

The New Approaches to the Treatment of Parkinson’s disease was a great success. Many thanks to everyone who attended, I’ve written a brief report of the meeting here.
